Study of law at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität of Würzburg, first state examination in 2005/I. Legal clerkship in the OLG district of Bamberg, second state examination in 2007/I. Doctorate and habilitation at the University of Würzburg. Awarded with the Röntgen Prize of the University of Würzburg in 2013Summer semester 2013 stand-in professor for German and European criminal and criminal procedural law at the University of Konstanz. Winter semester 2013/2014 stand-in professor at the University of Bayreuth. Calls to the University of Cologne (W2) and the University of Bayreuth (W3). Since April 2014 holder of the Chair for Criminal Law III at the University of Bayreuth. Call to the University of Würzburg (W3) rejected in June 2018.  Deputy chair of the ethics committee of the University of Bayreuth since January 2015.  Dean of Studies of the division of law. Co-editor of the magazine Jura - Juristische Ausbildung.
